Privacy policy

We know fishing spots and catches are private. This app is built so that we never receive them. In short: no accounts, no cookies, your trips and catch log stay on your device, and the only usage data we collect is an anonymous count of which features are used — which you can switch off.

1. What you enter stays on your device

Your Trips plan, Catch Log (waters, species, sizes, dates, notes, companions) and settings are saved only in your browser on this device, using localStorage. Nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else.
There are no accounts and no server database. We cannot see, recover or delete your data for you.
Your data does not sync between devices. Clearing your browser data (or using a private window) deletes it. Use Export JSON on the Trips and Catch Log tabs to keep a backup file, and Import to restore or move it. Export files are created in your browser and saved wherever you choose.
What is stored locally: your trip (ifa.trip), catch log (ifa.log), display settings (ifa.units, ifa.logPeriod), drive-time settings and lodging point (ifa.speeds, ifa.lodging, ifa.tripRouteOpt) and your stats choice (ifa.analytics).
Drive-time routing runs on your device. The road network is downloaded with the app; your start, stops and destination are never sent anywhere.

2. Hosting and map tiles

The website and the background map file are served from our own hosting on Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages and Cloudflare R2). As with any website, Cloudflare receives your IP address, browser type and the files requested (including which map areas are loaded) in order to deliver them, and may keep short-lived technical logs for security and operations. It does not receive your trips or catch log. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

No other map, font or script services are loaded.

3. Anonymous usage stats (GoatCounter)

To learn which features are useful, the app can send anonymous counts to GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service that uses no cookies and no device identifiers. We only ever send the page path or one of the events below — never water names, coordinates, search text, dates, trip or catch contents.

Like any web request, GoatCounter's server sees your IP address and browser user-agent. According to GoatCounter's documentation these are used only in memory to tell unique visits apart and are never stored. GoatCounter is operated from the Republic of Ireland. See GoatCounter's privacy policy.

4. Your choices

Switch stats off any time: About → Your privacy → “Share anonymous usage stats”. The choice is remembered on this device.
If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, stats are switched off automatically and nothing is sent.
When the app is opened as a local file, nothing is sent.

5. Children

The app has no accounts and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

6. Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and its effective date.
